Consume with Care
This kit uses a series of portable touchpoints to educate users about the negative effects of overconsumption while encouraging more sustainable habits. A 9 x 9 foldable infographic explains the impact of excessive consumption and offers practical ways to make changes in everyday life. One suggested behavior shift is reducing time spent on social media, which is reinforced through a bookmark that promotes reading as an alternative to scrolling and includes a list of artistic hobbies to pursue instead. Supporting local businesses is another focus of the kit, highlighted through shopping bag stickers featuring QR codes for local shops in Bowling Green. A reusable filtered water bottle completes the set by serving as a reminder to reuse, reducing reliance on mass-produced plastic bottles while also discouraging the accumulation of unnecessary reusable products.
This activism kit addresses the growing issue of overconsumption by promoting mindful habits and encouraging support for local businesses. Designed with young adults in mind, including myself and my peers. It responds to the constant pressure we feel from social media to buy more, often without giving it a second thought. This kit aims to shift consumer behaviors by raising awareness and providing tools that empower individuals to make more intentional, community-focused choices.
